Yes, Automotive vee-belt dressing is used to obtain traction on a slipping belt. The savage belt gets its traction by being a coged belt, not a vee-belt.

What the Savage belt needs is a release agent (lubricant). I put silicon lube on mine. Don't know for sure what long life effects are caused by chemicals on the rubber.

Jahrider, do you have many squashed BEES on your "honey belt"?

The petcock only flows when in the "ON" position when the engine is running. There should be enough gasoline in the carburetor float bowl, to get the engine running. While the engine is running engine vacuum /suction opens up the valve. Perhaps the valve is faulty, by having a vacuum leak! BTW: do not park the cycle in PRIME position, when this is the position of your petcock that you are using when running. Park it in RUN position (which is really ("OFF POSITION") while the engine is not running.
